Working with the Town Engineer, this position is responsible for performing technical work inspecting the infrastructure for improvement projects as well as various private developments. The Infrastructure Inspector will physically inspect a wide array of streets, trails, signals, sidewalks, storm and sanitary systems and is responsible for a variety of duties.
Examples of Duties:

  • Perform road, sewer, trail, and other infrastructure inspections.
  • Document and respond to citizen complaints.
  • Review contractor pay applications to confirm accuracy of quantity records.
  • Test construction materials and sanitary sewer systems which may include proof rolls.
  • Collect material certifications to ensure compliance with City and INDOT construction specifications.
  • Ensure developers acquire the appropriate maintenance and performance bonds.
  • Assist in maintaining roadway pavement condition system to document segments in need of preventative maintenance.
  • Provide constructability reviews of infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Prepare quantity estimates, review contractor pay estimate applications, and change orders.
  • Assist with GIS mapping of infrastructure and asset management.

Minimum Qualifications:Two year degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental engineering, construction technology or equivalent; INDOT inspection experience desired; Valid driver's license; Ability to handle a variety of assignments and problems independently; Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people in sometimes stressful situations; Working knowledge of laws, codes, regulations and ordinances as they relate to city, county, state and federal government.?Must be able to read and understand plans and project specifications.? Must be organized and able to keep detailed, accurate field notes.? Must be able to accurately follow written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively.? Must be familiar with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).? Reasoning, mathematical and language skills (read, write, and speak) acceptable business English.? Must be able to lift 50 lbs. such as opening manhole lids.


Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
